It's like a thousand metric tons, Pounding your chest in, With the force of a tsunami, The ultimate juggernaut suddenly coming your way. A stampede that you never prepared for.

Like a sold-out concert, And your breathless, standing in the front row.

Like An avalanche approaching, And it's your first time to ski. Like a raging inferno

and you’re stuck on the top floor, [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]

Like an atomic bomb, And you are in your quiet garden looking at all the pretty plant seeds. Like a seismic earthquake

Having just gone to bed

Everything is gone and your whole family is dead, Tomorrow would have been your first day of school. [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]

Like picking your nose in traffic, And the guy in the other car just watching you.

Fingers pointing and camera in view.

Like tear gas thrown into the crowd While protesting for humane rights, Like business suits walking on the cement You sleep on at night.

Like hundreds of animals dying

From a brand-new disease,

Now affecting your village,

Big pharma swooping in and experimenting for free.

Like getting lung cancer, And you didn't even smoke. Like getting shot for being a skin color, At the wrong place and time, Like committing genocide, When you share the same bloodline.

Like playing the burning game, When real victims are splashed with acid everyday Like smoking weed and getting busted A day before it's legalized. Hey!

Like a barbell too heavy, And no one is around to help you lift the weight. Like walking onto the bus naked And no one says a word, But five seconds later it's already made the news. Like the mother who has lost her child to a monster, And is losing count of the sleepless nights.

Like getting plastic surgery To look like someone you will never meet. Like running for boxes of aid thrown at you, Barefoot in the hot desert sand, Or like a deadly virus, with no cure available on the land.

Like Travelling across state, In the backwoods and you run out of gas, And the next sign you see says kkk. [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]

Like being chased from your home, For looking a certain way.

Like starving to model on the run way, Or starving from hunger the hard way, Like children picking up pebbles and mistaking it for bread, Like drinking bacteria infested water, To quench your aching thirst,

Like sitting in a bus and blown to pieces, And the last thing you told your son Was to behave today. Like getting the wrong order at a fast food joint,

when you’ve already had a bad day. Or floating blindly out in a turbulent sea, you don't know how to swim but You paid a dollar and they rescue for free.

Just like that. This feeling of the weight of the world, Feels just like that.

Like stealing a rose from a restaurant, Just to bring it home and watch it wilt away, Dry it's leaves and add it as a decoration To a flower pot.

The Rose still looks pretty today, It grew from this world, Some how... Some way.
